Full Insurance Coverage
Know you're fully insured when working with JetPro
Flying as an independent contractor sometimes means flying without insurance. By not being on the flight department’s payroll, you may not be covered under their insurance policies without jumping through extra hoops.
Flying with JetPro Pilots means you are covered.
We carry large general liability, non-owned coverage, products liability, and full workman’s compensation for all employees.

401(k)
Contribute to a 401(k) plan
Employees working with JetPro Pilots may be eligible to participate in JetPro Pilots’s 401(k) program. All full-time employees & certain on-demand (“W2 Contractor”) employees are eligible for a 4% company match, with immediate vesting. Eligibility is based on the number of hours/days worked for JetPro within a 90 day period. Through this program, money can be set aside on a pre-tax or post-tax (ROTH) basis in a variety of plan options to match your risk tolerance. Even if you don’t work enough hours for JetPro to qualify, but you would like to save for retirement, JetPro Pilots can put you in touch with our financial advisors to help you invest pre-tax dollars for retirement, not only using JetPro Pilots wages, but also with wages made from flying with your other clients.

FAQ
frequently asked questions
JetPro Pilots generally provides crew for mid to large cabin business jets. These families generally include Gulfstream, Cessna (Citation), Bombardier (Challenger, Global Express, Lear) and Dassault Falcon. However, JetPro Pilots is also open to crewing additional aircraft types based on our clients’ needs. Review our complete list of current aircraft crewed here.
Not necessarily. While this is ideal to minimize positioning costs, there are many other factors that come in to play when choosing a pilot or other crew member. Some of our clients require their crew members to live within a certain geographic distance of their home base, while others do not…focusing more on the experience and the individual and accepting positioning expenses as a cost of doing business.
With JetPro Trip™, our temporary crewing model, our crews can only fly Part 91 because of the expectation that pilots come to us with training in-hand, noting that we accept both Part 91 and Part 135 approved pilot training. However, with JetPro Recruit™, we are able to place pilots into either Part 91 or Part 135 full-time positions with our clients.
No, not per say. Many of our pilots and flight attendants have international experience. However, we specialize in the mid to large cabin jets, most of which are designed with longer ranges to fly internationally. This is largely a client-by-client requirement, and while we do have clients that fly internationally on a regular basis, we also have clients that do not fly much internationally, or perhaps only to Canada, Mexico, or the Caribbean.
Yes. Safety comes first, so we like to see lots of consistency and experience in a given aircraft or family of closely related aircraft. That generally comes with flying only a handful of AC types at the most, at least at a given time in your career.
No. Each pilot is hired as an employee of JetPro Pilots. We are all W2 (no 1099s). JetPro Pilots pays for the employer portion of your federal payroll taxes (which you would pay on your own as an independent contractor). Taxes are withheld according to your withholding instructions, and JetPro Pilots will issue a W2 to you at the end of the calendar year. Having our pilots on our payroll also ensures proper insurance coverage.
JetPro Pilots carries its own insurance, and there are no requirements to be added to JetPro Pilots’s policy, only that you are an employee of JetPro Pilots and you are typed and current on the appropriate aircraft. However, certain clients also require a specific number of hours (e.g. total hours, hours in type, MEL, turbine, etc.) This is handled and screened on a client-by-client basis.
This is handled on a client-by-client basis. We generally see that flight departments understand that if they are asking you to travel to a certain airport (typically their base of operation) to fly their trip, this is your time, which then cannot be used to fly for someone else. Policies and circumstances can vary a little from trip to trip, but we typically pay the normal daily rate for positioning days, including expenses.
JetPro Pilots is 100% direct deposit, and wages and expenses are paid on a weekly basis. With our industry leading system, JetPro crew members are paid quickly with FastPay™.
Yes. All employees (both full time and part time) are eligible to participate in our 401(k) program. In addition, we offer a 3% match to our full-time crew members (pilots, flight attendants, techs) that are on a retainer with a specific client. If you are a contract pilot and do not work anywhere full time, you can fly on a part-time basis with JetPro Pilots, and we can get you set up to save for your retirement on a pre-tax basis. You can certainly put money from your JetPro Pilots earnings toward your retirement (at any percentage that you want, with the flexibility to change your withholdings as frequently as you like). In addition, we can help get you set up with our retirement advisors so that you can even get set up to also invest wages that you make with other operators toward retirement, also on a pre-tax basis.
Clients are based throughout the continental United States.
Absolutely. Some of our pilots are employed full time with a flight department and can only fly occasionally. We also have pilots that fly as full time contractors and use JetPro Pilots to help supplement their incomes as time permits.
As a general rule, JetPro does not have specific requirements when it comes to hours. We have many different clients, and their needs vary. Sometimes clients will require certain minimums to satisfy insurance requirements, at which point we will follow suit and also hold these requirement for crew members assigned to that particular client. Pilots that fly with JetPro generally average several thousand total hours, with a significant number of hours in type. We also consider things such as PIC hours, international experience and customer service skills.
Sure, noting that we evaluate each crew member on his or her own qualifications, of course. JetPro Pilots is very pro-active when it comes to signing up new crew members. This helps us position ourselves well to support our clients by having many crew members signed up and ready to go at a moment’s notice. Feel free to refer them to our website.
Pilots and Flight Attendants are paid on a per-day basis. The rate is usually based on the aircraft type (larger cabin aircrafts typically pay more than smaller cabin aircraft). Industry standards are generally followed based on the pertinent aircraft. This can also sometimes be negotiated with the client.
Yes, absolutely. As an employee of JetPro Pilots (when flying on a trip as a JetPro Pilots employee), you are fully covered under our General Liability, Non-Owned, and Workmen’s Comp policies.
As a general rule, each employee will be required to pay for his/her own training. Training that has been funded by your employer can also be accepted. We are happy to have you fly with us as long as it’s also approved with your full-time employer.
Wages (flying, positioning, and standby days) as well as expenses are reported through the use of our exclusive TripTrac™ mobile app. Learn more about TripTrac™ here.
Health insurance is available to our full-time employees. So who is that? This includes our office & administrative team members that are full-time, however it also applies to a selected set of our full-time pilots, flight attendants, and technicians. For some clients, we have employees that are on retainer agreements, employed full-time by JetPro Pilots, and assigned exclusively to a particular client. Since these employees are full time with JetPro Pilots, they are eligible for our full health insurance package, which includes additional options for life, dental, and vision.
